Here is a touch of my wisdom... to make a difference in the tapestry of life. 

From the Perspective of Human Sentience

Human Perception is a process of mind

 spurred by mind's support -

 the body, guided by the brain and its nervous system 

- as the physical framework of mind:

it is a complex and inconceivable network
 of collective neuronal activity

Human Perception is unique to the human species

Human perception is perpetuated, indeed, by diverse cravings and graspings

Human perception is trapped

 within six sense faculties of operation that involve

 eighteen elements of 'being and becoming'

as  six sense bases,
six sense fields,
 and six sense consciousnesses

Human perception is incessantly driven
 by unguarded sensuality

Human perception is steered by delusion, as egocentricity

Human perception may be transcended
 solely through investigative insight
 and introspection alone!

Essentially...

The universe, is the continuous manifestation

 of human consciousness

 perpetuated by the five-step process of personality

known to be the five-aggregates of 'being and becoming'

namely, form, feeling, perception, 
conception or volition, and consciousness

The universe, as experienced and perceived, corresponds
 to individual human awareness
cultivated outwardly through linguistic elaborations
and, more importantly, 
through conscientious cultivation inward 
 by means of introspection, and investigative insight

The manifest universe - a field of designations and representations - is none other than conventional relativity

The universal order and chaos
is a direct reflection of ever-prevalent
 personal and universal compassion

The universe 'without' is communicative of 

the collective aura of its inhabitants

The universe 'within' is colored and conditioned
 by the cumulative imprints - or the counteractive forces -
 of each individual stream, or process of mind

The universe is selfless and wondrous, by nature
 - giving and receiving LOVE
 as unbroken causal chains of 'being and becoming'

Universal preservation, hence, is our collective responsibility

Universal destruction, by the same token, is
 a retributive effect of our collective ignorance

The Reason...

Human evolution and advancement
 continues through the exploitation and destruction
 of the living environment - of 'being and form'

The environment of being and form, on the other hand,  collectively exists as 'prey' or 'predator'
 guided by instinctual tendencies...
checking and balancing the equation called 'life'
 without undue destruction

Human beings, nevertheless, brood hopelessly
 over their self-serving interests... and the inevitable retributive consequences of their choices

  The 'free-will' as our spiritual human endowment 
awaits to be exercised...
in reverence to all beings and forms in existence
 that are linked  by the 'life-breath of interdependence'

To sum up...

The Universe

 - in terms of its preservation and destruction - 

continually awakens us to take moral responsibility

 for its healthy perpetuation!

The universe is our spiritual human endowment; 
it arises and dissolves in accordance with
 the nature of human morality.

In a World of Manifestations

The world is a manifestation of the forces of our collective imprints of mind, in accordance with the sublime, moral universal law - of intentional action and reaction - that reigns the universe beyond any, or all, human speculation.

Our individual experience, however, is a manifestation of our conditioned state of consciousness; it presents the psycho physical events - of time and circumstance - that uniquely befits a particular stream of mind. 

Whoever, or whatever, we encounter in life is never a happening by chance. We continually reap the harvest, in kind, of our cumulative thoughts, words, and deeds. Hence, it must be our fervent desire and responsibility to set the direction of our course - for a satisfying future of peace and joy - by our acts of body, speech, and mind, through each infinite moment in time.

Our virtues and vices are the counteractive energies that remain in eternal gridlock in our consciousness; therefore, it is in our best interest to think, speak, and act with awareness, and responsibility.

All in all, we individuals are the architects of our destinies!

Nature altered by human exploitation will never be without its ramifications.

Here are a few pointers to reflect upon:

First and foremost, nature's sublime purpose is being undermined; its ecological balance and serenity is disturbed.

Creatures are displaced from their habitats, thus, seeing them in places where humans never found them before. Humans, in turn, feel threatened and inconvenienced by the creatures that never did any wrong, to begin with! Humans find ways to get these marvelous beings out of their way - denying them of their own existence and love of life - while being in denial of our own egocentric misdoings.

Plant life is being compromised; their suffering and destruction is sadly our ill-fate. We humans fail to realize that much of our human sufferings may be attributed to the diminishing oxygen rich fresh air, while environmental pollutants continue to ravage us with disease.

Deforestation to accomplish agroindustrial and business objectives brings about its retributive effects upon the world. A multitude of very evident negative causal factors and their fatal consequences propagate the stream of biological and environmental degeneration. Humans, in turn, are besieged by trauma. Along the process, we continue to be blindly involved in scientific research in order to overcome the effects of this causal chain provoked by human misdoings. Can we, for a change, ponder over this state of imbalance - and overall biophysical/biochemical disharmony - to arrive at viable options and objectives that may serve to find the origin of most of our problems.

In conclusion, our world is a web of interdependence between the mineral, animal, and plant kingdoms, to say the least. An underlying symbiosis, most obviously, preserves its balance and propagation. Ethically and morally sound human choices - with respect for nature - shall only bring us happy consequences. All other egocentric visions will be counter balanced - over time and circumstance -  by 'Nature, Our Teacher '.

This is a token of appreciation, admiration, and gratitude, in remembrance of my beloved dad, Dionicious Gunawardena, whose words of wisdom will forever remain etched in my heart.

My dad was a talented pianist and a vocalist, unknown to the world. He sang many songs after his heart to the accompaniment of his favorite instrument - the piano. He was blessed with a powerfully enchanting voice. The words in his songs were soothing and profoundly meaningful about life and existence. 

One particular song that he used to sing often has echoed in my ear since my early childhood to this day. Consequently, I am constantly reminded of the ephemeral nature to all phenomena in life, through each passing moment. By the same token, I have come to realize that materiality is short lived and only imprints of experience shall prevail. Finally, loving thoughts, words, and deeds alone shall hold substance; none else shall bring us home, to our true nature - the primordial spirit of LOVE.

My dad sang his song expressively and eloquently. His voice conveyed the penetrating truth, as noted below:

We are wandering travelers in this world

Why are we unwilling to be grounded in morality?

No matter how much we may accumulate by way of name, fame, and possessions

Keep in mind, death knocks on the door of 'the wandering ego' relentlessly

All that we carry across space and time will be the imprints of experience - both selfish and selfless - sown in our consciousness

All compounded things will, most naturally and unfailingly, turn to dust in accordance with the supreme law of the universe.

Every child is an heir to knowledge that stems from practical life-experience, in particular. The inconvenient truth is that parents and elders are the primary pacesetters of their growth and development. Ultimately, the child is the bearer of the experiential legacy - in whatever form - that the parents leave behind.

Day to day, incidents that seem too trivial to adults carry the highest potential to set either destructive, or constructive imprints, in the mind-field of the child. Who he becomes, and what he becomes, consequently, is the habitual pattern of life he 'lives to grow' and 'grows to live'.

We say time is a healer, though more importantly, time is the course of redemption – over the field of interdependence - through which the invincible universal law of karma operates.

The assurance of a safe return is possible only through the activation of unconditional LOVE and COMPASSION. 

We sow the seeds of body-speech-mind while we bear the consequences - to reap the unfailing harvest of equal kind - by the choices we make. Ultimately, the consciousness we assume reflects the quality of our habitual patterns and associated tendencies.

Denial of the universal law only validates self-destruction. Mindfulness, on the other hand, brings self-awakening.

May all beings elevate themselves to become self-realized!

A Loving Tribute My Mother

Hello, Dear Parent Friends of the Web! 

Here is a touch of my wisdom... to make a difference in the tapestry of life.

On this Twenty Fifth day of November

This is a special tribute in remembrance of my wondrous mom - Mildred Gunawardena, fondly known as Mrs. G - who lived to epitomize the wisdom depicted in this picture.

Thirteen years ago on this twenty fifth day of November, my mother - a precious life that touched many hearts and minds on Earth - transitioned peacefully to another parenthesis in eternity. My mother left her worldly attachments behind. What she carried with her were those unfailing imprints of her caring and compassionate thoughts, words and deeds, sown throughout her life. 

Despite the fact that my mother's passing was the greatest loss in our lives, though, from a mundane perspective, we - as a family - accepted the reality of life's processes, as they continue to arrive from infinity, and move towards infinity. 

Since reality states that nothing abides, while all is in flux, we have taken solace in cherishing the rich and loving seed imprints of our mother that continue to sprout in all the many ways, in many people's hearts.

May you, our dearly beloved mom - and our life idol, to say the very least - remain in a blissful state of peace and joy, by the forces of compassion you will undoubtedly continue to generate along your infinite journey of LOVE!

The lotus blossom emerges with placid perfection, beauty, and uniqueness, having been nourished and transformed in the ground of impurity. Its source is in the mud while being sustained by the water of life. It rises towards the sky of enlightenment having overcome the field of gross matter.

Yes, it encompasses both dimensions of being - the relative, and the absolute - just as all other phenomena do. However, its presence of wishless-ness and aimlessness symbolizes the truth of ultimate reality - enabling it to savor the nature of freshness, openness, and the very emptiness that underlies all things in transience. 

The Lotus is the embodiment of purity and compassionate wisdom; it is the living example of transcendence. Likewise, all passions in the field of relativity bear the potential be transformed into compassion - the wisdom of the absolute!

Life is fleeting; a life span is only as long as the cumulative experience of all the many waking states!

Longevity is a notion of deception that accounts for all three states - 'the waking state', 'the dream state' and 'the sleep state'. Let us be more realistic and consider just one half of a general life-span.

Let us live every moment fully - for ourselves - and usefully, to all others that make our existence possible.

The Field of All-Encompassing LOVE!

Joy resides in every heart that encapsulates LOVE while it transcends self-focused psychophysical cravings and attachments. 

As such, realized beings glow with this light of wisdom; they are joyful and altruistically intentioned; they are immersed in relieving the pain and suffering of sentient beings, who are blinded, drained, and drowned by ignorance.

When self-serving interests are dispelled, all pains dissipate by the grace of insightful openheartedness, accompanied by charitable thoughts, words, and deeds.

The world all over is like a house on fire! Harsh attitudes and exploitation of life, and the environment, followed by ever-surging natural disasters question our intellects, while we are in denial of our own shortfalls and shortsightedness.

Our pains may be overcome by annihilating the root cause of ignorance - the love of 'self'; our mundane sufferings, though, are 'the dark clouds with silver linings'; these are precursors to unveiling happiness solely through reflection and introspection.

Loving kindness must pervade the mind!

Liberating Truth

Is to Uphold Balance

The wisdom of luminous empty essence manifests our psychophysical world of phenomena - in accordance with the forces of mind. It is the liberating truth, in an ultimate sense. 

Its nature is that which brings forth incessant transience; it entails pure action of compassion and benevolence to heal the world. 

Whether it is conducive to egoistic mental attitudes or not, it is a constant reminder to uphold equilibrium between the 'inner' and the 'outer'. Our freedom - all the way around - thus rests upon this middle ground if, and when, we adhere to this truth.

Our outward efforts in attainment of freedom will only be proven futile along the course of our lives as long as the mind remains ungrounded - by the absence of inner harmony and balance. 

The truth is that total emancipation is within our reach through the cultivation of  overall integrity in body-mind-spirit.

We Are One Humanity

Here is a touch of my wisdom... to make a difference in the tapestry of life. 

Uniquely Disposed with Diversity

We are one humanity; perception, however, from one individual to another, inevitably creates uniqueness and diversity. The daunting truth is that personalities will forever be tainted with points of view. While these may be conflicting, or even otherwise, each individual will realistically bear the right to his position or opinion.

In the great and diverse scheme of consciousness, beings are held trapped within the miseries of discursive, volatile thought. In the process, all conceptions - by way of ideas, notions, beliefs, ideals, and much more - evolve as mere mental constructs, in turn, to elevate egoistic mental attitudes.

Nature, though, sublimely attempts to bring healing to humble us, in our human condition, when circumstances deem proper. We are united in times of such crises - in our states of hopelessness and helplessness having to succumb to the reality of nature's majesty. Compassion, after all, is our only hope!

In truth enemies exist only in the mind! When the mind awakens, adversaries and adversities, in kind, no longer remain. In actuality, our conflicts on 'the outer' stem from 'the inner'.

Let us get this right!

Nature is our teacher!
